My Daughter Hated Writing. Here's What Actually Helped.

My daughter Aishwarya dreaded exam time. Not because she didn't know the answers — she did. She'd studied hard, understood the concepts, and could explain everything perfectly out loud. But the moment she put pen to paper, something went wrong. Her writing came out rushed, uneven, nearly impossible to read. Teachers were marking her down not for what she knew, but for how it looked on the page.

As a parent, that's a frustrating thing to watch. You know your child is capable. But in school, presentation matters more than it should. And honestly, nobody teaches handwriting properly after the first couple of years. It just gets assumed.

This year, ahead of school reopening, I decided to actually do something about it. I enrolled her in a structured handwriting improvement program — and what followed genuinely surprised me.
